Battery safety
Our power banks and speakers, including the TrioSmart 3-in-1, contain rechargeable lithium-ion batteries. Used properly they're safe and reliable. These simple rules keep them that way.
Charging
- Use the cable supplied, or a good-quality USB charger from a reputable brand.
- Charge on a hard, non-flammable surface, never on a bed, sofa or under a pillow.
- Don't leave devices charging unattended for long periods or overnight, and unplug once full.
- Let a device cool down before charging if it has been in the sun or a hot car.
Flying with power banks
- Power banks and spare lithium batteries must go in your hand luggage, never in checked-in baggage.
- Most airlines allow power banks up to 100Wh without approval. Check the Wh rating on the device and your airline's rules before you fly.
- Some airlines don't allow power banks to be used or charged during the flight. Follow cabin crew instructions.
- Protect the ports from short circuits, for example in a pouch or pocket of their own.
Storage and care
- Keep away from water, heat and direct sunlight. A dry bag is a good home on beach and boat trips.
- For long-term storage, keep the battery at around half charge and top it up every few months.
- Don't drop, crush, puncture or open the device.
Stop using it if…
- It swells, bulges, leaks, smells or makes unusual noises.
- It gets very hot during normal use or charging.
- The case is cracked or the ports are damaged.
- If a device overheats or smokes, move away from it, and only if it's safe to do so unplug it. Don't use water on a battery fire; call 999.
Disposal
- Never put batteries or devices containing them in your household bin or recycling.
- Take them to a battery recycling point or your local household recycling centre.
